

Ronald Isbell Hornback was born October 18, 1952, in Ennis, TX. Ron earned 95% of all college expenses and graduated from Texas A & M in May 1975 with a Bachelor of Science. Ron then went on to the University of North Texas in Denton, TX earning his Teacher Certification – Biology, Life-Earth Science and graduated September 1984. Over the years Ron was a certified HAZWOPER working with Hazardous Materials, worked as a Sheet Metal Sheer Operator, also in Quality Assurance assisting the manager in research and development on new processes, products, and customer service, implementing quality programs to production and maintenance personnel.
Ron’s family were dairy farmers in Decatur, TX. Due to this he became a State Approved Laboratory Technician working for AMPI and later becoming one of their Field Representatives assisting member dairymen as a Management Representative to dairy men, milk haulers, and milk plants.
At Anna ISD Ron was a Junior High/High School Teacher teaching 6th grade General Science, 8th grade Earth Science, 9th grade Physical Science, 10th grade Biology. He was the 10th grade class sponsor and School Bus Driver. Ron was a High School Science Teacher at Decatur High School teaching 9th grade Physical Science; 10th grade Chemistry and 11th grade Physics as well as being the 11th grade class sponsor and School Bus Driver. At Bridgeport ISD, Ron taught 9th grade Physical Science and 10th grade Biology. He was a 9th grade class sponsor and School Bus Driver.
In 1997 Ron and Julia attended the World Missions Training Course for Medical Missionaries in Loveland, Colorado with hands-on training in medical missionary work and organic agriculture, incorporating evangelism as a method of outreach in the U.S. and around the world. After graduating they went to work at a school in Calhoun, TN for boys with A.D.D. and A.D.H.D. teaching math, science, agriculture, farming, and bee keeping. Julia worked in the Administration Office. A call from a hospital in Wisconsin about the health of Julia’s father brought them to Wisconsin as caregivers. Ron was very helpful in the care of his own mother, Julia’s father, stepmother and mother. Later, taking care of Julia’s sister and other family members and friends. Ron always was ready to do whatever was necessary to help care for the family. Ron was a very warm compassionate person who enjoyed being with people.
One of Ron’s greatest joys was his work training school bus drivers for fifteen years and driving a school bus for a total of 25 years. He looked forward to being at work each day. When Ron became ill with brain cancer, it was as if he lost a part of his life, not being able to drive. He missed the children most of all and they missed him.
Ron and Julia met November 3, 1989, and were married on March 3, 1990. They were the love of each other’s life. Ron will be greatly missed by Julia. Ron is survived by five children: and their spouses, nine grandchildren, and three great grandchildren who will all miss him. He is also survived by one brother and his wife and many cousins and friends. Family, friends and coworkers have expressed their feelings of loss as well as many other business acquaintances, neighbors, and church families.
Ron went to sleep in Jesus the morning of May 16th 2026.
A visitation will be held at Alvarado Seventh-day Adventist Church, 908 Church St, Alvarado, TX 76009, US, on May 24, 2026, from 10:00 am to 10:30 am, followed by a light meal gathering at the same location from 10:30 am to 11:30 am. A funeral service will take place there on May 24, 2026, from 11:45 am to 1:15 pm.
A committal service will be held at Laurel Land Memorial Park - FW, 7100 CROWLEY RD, FORT WORTH, TX 76134, US, on May 24, 2026, from 2:30 pm to 3:00 pm.
