Ruth slipped away to join her beloved husband of 73 years, Lloyd, on Saturday April 17, 2021, at the age of 102. She was born December 18, 1918 to parents Ella Louise and James Melford Jackson in Big Hill, Texas, the youngest of 6 children.
Ruth married the love of her life, Lloyd Lansing Grimm, on January 28, 1939 and they had two children, Elaine and Lloyd, Jr aka Lan or Lanny. After raising these two to junior and senior high, she decided she wasn't busy enough so she went to work in a doctors office where she worked until she retired. Then she and Lloyd traveled all over the country with friends for several years.
A long time member of Meadowbrook United Methodist Church she was active in United Methodist Women, the Bright Corner Sunday School Class, weekly Prayer Shawl Ministry, and played a cut throat game of scrabble with anyone she could trick into playing with her. She also enjoyed weekly games of “Mexican Train” in the church game room.
Ruth was preceded in death by her parents, siblings, husband, and several nephews.
Ruth is survived by her son Lloyd Jr, daughter Elaine Hall and two granddaughters Melinda Bernsen and Sharron Hall, and grandson-in-law Jeff Bernsen, as well as numerous nieces, nephews and their respective offspring.
Visitation will be Monday April 26 from 12:00 to 1:00 in the Parlor at Meadowbrook-Poly United Methodist Church, 3900 Meadowbrook Dr, Ft. Worth, followed by services in the sanctuary at 1:30. Graveside and internment will be at Rose Hill Cemetery, 7301 Lancaster Ave, Ft Worth following services.
In lieu of flowers, a donation in her memory to her church would be appreciated.
