The graveside service will be at 2pm on Monday, February 8, 2021 at Sparkman Hillcrest Cemetery in Dallas. Burial will follow. Arrangements are by Shannon Rufe Snow Funeral Home in Watauga, TX.
Sandra Clayton Penny (Sandy) was born in Atlanta, GA to Helen Powell Penny and Hank Penny on April 28, 1940. She attended Woodlawn High School in Birmingham, AL. She married Johnny N. Martin, Jr. on June 4, 1959 in Annapolis, MD. In the 1960’s she became a mother. She dearly loved her job as mom to three children.
In 1974, she studied art at the University of Dallas, in Irving. In the mid-1970’s she became a deputy sheriff with Dallas County. In 1977, Sandra began a career in real estate. She started working with Ebby Halliday and years later joined Henry S. Miller.
Sandra was an active member of Plymouth Park Methodist Church in Irving, TX. Through her church in 1995 she trained and was certified as a Stephen’s Minister. She was an avid animal lover and enjoyed traveling, listening to music and watching movies.
Sandra is preceded in death by her husband Johnny, her parents Helen and Hank, Stepfather Edgar Windom, her mother-in-law, Ruth and her daughter-in-law, Lynneda (Goldie) Martin.
Sandra is survived by her sons, Jay Martin and Jed Martin, daughter Jamie Fagan, brother Wm. Martin Windom and wife Juanita, brother Greg Penny, sister Sydney Penny, brother-in-law James R. Martin, his wife Betty as well as sister-in-law, Marilyn McMichael. She is also survived by grandchildren Daniel Thomas, Jordan Whitmore and husband Geoffrey, Katherine Fagan, Madison Fagan, Jacob Fagan, Jackson Martin, Jonah Martin as well as great grandson Gideon Whitmore.
Pallbearers will be Jay Martin, Jed Martin, Geoffrey Whitmore, Jacob Fagan, Jackson Martin and Jonah Martin.
Memorials may be given to World Wildlife Fund and the Humane Society. Sandra’s family wishes to extend their sincere thanks to the workers at Bridgewater Memory Care in Granbury, Encompass Health Hospice care and The Oaks Assisted Living Center in Granbury.
