Sylvia Lee Hoaldridge

Sylvia Lee Ausland Hoaldridge, loving wife, sister, aunt and lifelong friend, passed away Tuesday July 23, 2024 surrounded by family members and close friends. Sylvia fought a courageous battle against Kidney disease and fought valiantly to the end.

Memorials: In lieu of flowers, gifts may be made to Edge Park United Methodist Church, the National Kidney Foundation, and/or the American Cancer Society.

Sylvia was born in Wichita Falls, Texas, to Chris and Grace Ausland. Her father's job as a railroad brakeman prompted the family to move to Fort Worth in 1960. Sylvia is a graduate of R. L. Paschal High School in Fort Worth. Sylvia attended Tarrant County Junior College its first year of operation and served on the newly-established Student Board.

Sylvia met her husband, Larry, in 1969 and immediately told her friends that "He was the man of her dreams" even before they started dating in 1970. After a lengthy courtship, they married among family and friends in Fort Worth. Sylvia loved racing Corvettes with her husband, working crossword puzzles, reading, knitting and crocheting.

Sylvia retired from Union Pacific Resources. During her 28 years with UPR, she made many lifelong friends. She was a member of the Fort Worth Desk and Derrick Club since 1971, having served as Club President twice, as well as other offices. She was a member of Cowtown Vettes, a local Corvette club, as well as the National Council of Corvette Clubs. She has held numerous offices in both organizations throughout the years.

Sylvia will be remembered for her smile, outgoing personality, wonderful attitude and boisterous laugh. She will be missed by those who knew and loved her.

In addition to the loving care Sylvia received by her husband, Larry, heartfelt thanks go to friends, family and medical personnel who cared for her at Huguley Hospital.

Sylvia was preceded in death by both of her parents, Chris and Grace Ausland; her loving husband Larry; brother, Gary, and wives, Linda Ausland and Carol Ausland, and R. J. Durham, Sylvia's nephew.

Survivors: sister, Gayle Durham; nephew, Christopher Durham; Brother-in-Law, Robert Durham; niece, Kristy Ausland; nephew, Eric Ausland; Bernyce Molenda, Chris Tilton, and Jon Tilton, cousins, David.
