Vernie Edward Green, age 78 of Fort Worth, Texas passed away at home surrounded by family on Sunday Dec 15, 2019. He was born on April 5, 1941 in Terre Haute, IN and was the son of the late Edna and Vernie Green. He was the youngest of 11 children, who have all preceded him in death. He is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Chris Green; along with three children; Jackie and James Eberlin of Leominster, MA, Brian and Andrea Green of Laingsburg, MI and Tina and Scott Breeden of Haltom City, TX and an infant son Vernie Jr who passed away the day he was born; 9 grandchildren, Shane, Samantha, Monika, Caleb, Nick, Allison, Emily, Brianna, Adam and one who passed away as an infant, Jacob and many nieces, nephews and relatives. He loved and adored his two dogs, who were by his side every day and brought such joy to him. Vern served in Vietnam and 22 years in the Army. He was a Military Police Officer and after retirement was a Civilian Police Officer and Security. He loved being in law enforcement. He was a proud veteran and wore his hat everywhere he went. He was good with his hands, he could build anything. He loved to watch old western movies, police shows and listening to country music. He loved his animals. Over the years, if there were a stray dog or cat that he found, he would take them home with him. He was a simple man, not materialistic. Would rather give than receive. He would give you anything he had if you needed it. You always knew where you stood with him. He was honest and direct. All three of his kids inherited that quality from him. He loved his family, children and grandchildren unconditionally. Most of all his wife Chris. She was his rock and he knew it. He was loved and will be deeply missed. We know he is flying with the angels, taking care of the animals and watching over all of us.
