Wanda Burns

Wanda Dowdy Burns "Meme" moved to her Heavenly mansion on Tuesday January 26, 2016. Service: 12:30 Friday at Laurel Land Memorial Chapel. The family will receive visitors from 10am-12pm. Interment will be at Laurel Land Memorial Park in Fort Worth. Wanda was born to Clifford and Gussie Lee "Noochie" Dowdy on May 25, 1922 in Fort Worth, Tx. She married the love of her life, Vernon Burns "Dads", on October 12, 1941. Wanda was a devoted Christian wife, Mom, sister, and loyal friend. After one introduction, she proudly became known as Meme to everyone and was loved by all. Wanda enjoyed creating arts and crafts to be shared with those she loved. Fiercely independent, she lived an enriched full life filled with love and laughter, and had a special way of making everyone feel like they were THE #1 to her. Never complaining and very content with her life blessings, God's grace shined through the ever present smile in her eyes as she greeted you with a Meme hug. She was an active lifelong member of Southcliff Baptist Church. Wanda is preceded in death by her parents, husband Vernon, Brothers; Clifford Dowdy Jr. and Donald Dowdy. Survivors: Children; Jerri Poe, Sharon Jayne White, Jean Lewis and husband Steve, Rob Burns and wife Barbara; Brother; Clarence Dowdy and wife Rosie, Sister in Law; Mickey Dowdy; nine grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren; multitude of nieces, nephews, and dear friends.
