

Miss. Wanda Ruth Gipson (aka, “Sister”) was born to the parentage of Curtis Gipson and Vera Collins Gipson on November 02,
1947 in Fort Worth, TX.
She received her primary and secondary education from the Fort Worth Independence School District in the Lake Como
Community, where she excelled in academics. She graduated in May of 1965 from Como High School. After graduation, Wanda
attended Southwestern Christian College in Terrell, Texas where she graduated with her Associate Degree in Liberal Arts in spring
of 1967. Next, she attended Texas Christian University in Fort Worth, TX, where she pledged Delta Sigma Theta Sorority
Incorporated and graduated from the Harris College of Nursing & Health Science with a Bachelor Degree in Nursing in Spring of
1969. After several years of working in the medical field, Wanda received her Master Degree in Business and Human Resources
from Amber University in Garland, TX in 1994.
Wanda was baptized at an early age at Lake Como Church of Christ. Later she moved her membership to Church of Christ in Forest
Hill.
During her lifetime, Wanda worked at John Peter Smith Hospital as a Registered Nurse. In 1971, she moved to the Panama Canal
Zone for two years on a research assignment. After two years in the Panama Canal Zone, Wanda returned to Fort Worth to work
at the Public Health Department as a Registered Nurse. In 1975, she rejoined the John Peter Smith Hospital family as a Registered
Nurse and shortly afterwards was promoted to Director of Case Management until she retired in 2013.
She was preceded in death by her father, Curtis Gipson, mother, Vera Gipson, her brother, Curtis Wendell Gipson and sister and
brother-in-law, Mary and Clarence Allen.
She leaves to cherish her memories her loving brother, James Gipson (Deborah) of Crowley, TX, her aunt, Loberta Gipson of Tyler,
TX, her nephews, Coyle A. Allen (Sherlon) of Grand Prairie, TX, Damon Gipson of Alvarado, TX, Derrick Gipson (Renee) of Desoto,
TX, Marc Jones in Grand Prairie, TX, her nieces, Detric Ricard of Crowley, TX and Carol Allen of Lancaster, TX. Five great nephews
and eight great nieces and two great great nephews and five great great nieces. She also is cherished by her special cousin, Casey
Lynn Mitchell and a host of other relatives and friends including her brothers and sisters in Christ.
