

William M. Hayes, Jr. was the only child born to William and Hassie Hayes in Fort Worth, Texas. He was educated in the Fort Worth Public School System and Graduated from I. M. Terrell High School and attended Prairie View College.
William Hayes met and married Ms. Gertrude Raynor on March 8, 1948 and lived happily together for 73 glorious years.
William Hayes was a life long member of Mount Pisgah Missionary Baptist Church.
Served in World War II as a Supply Staff Sergeant. Received the Good Conduct Medal American Theater Campaign Medal received EAME Campaign Medal with 4 Bronze Stars for Campaigns in Northern France, Ardennes, Rhineland, Central Europe and World War II Victory Medal. Honorable Discharged December 8, 1945.
William Hayes entered the United States Postal Service in 1956 and retired in 1985. He was a Mail Expedites. Was a Master Mason and member of Panther City Lodge #159 for over fifty years, also served as assistant secretary for many years. At Mount Pisgah William Hayes was a member of Progressive Men’s Bible Class, Training Union #2, Adult Mission area 5/8, Brotherhood Union, Trustee and Church financial secretary for many years.
William Hayes, Servant of God, well done, on June 7, 2022 God dispatched an angel to join his loved ones awaiting his arrival will be his, wife, Gertrude; parents, William and Hassie Hayes; daughter, Norma Jean Hearne; son, William Madison Hayes, III; grandson, Gerald Wayne Norman.
Left to cherish his memories; sons, Willard Hayes (Millie) and Paul Hayes (Lisa); 7 grandchildren, Teresa Hayes, Yolanda Norman Smith (Andre), William Madison Hayes, IV, Paul Smith, Aaron Hayes, Randy Hearne and Jay Hearne; son-in-law, J.B. Hearne; 8 great grandchildren; and a host of relatives and friends.
