Archie was the oldest son of Charlie Holden McCarter and Lenora Vernon Moore McCarter and was born in Navarro on Nov. 23, 1922. Archie grew up in Navarro Community and graduated from the former Navarro High School. He served in the U.S. Army Air Corp in the Asiatic Pacific Campaign in World War II. He was employed by the former Joslyn Manufacturing & Supply Co. for 38 years.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Jean; brother, Charles; and his parents.
Survivors: His children, William "Bill" Archie McCarter Jr. and wife, Paula, of Austin, Lilla "Gayle" McCarter Lamers and husband, Patrick, of Fort Worth and son Charles "Charlie" Frederick McCarter and wife, Cristina, of Rockwall; grandchildren, Rebecca McCarter Hunter of Seguin, Kacie Hunnicutt Russell of Fort Worth, Joshua McCarter of Atascadero, Calif., Rachel McCarter O'Leary of Buda and Joseph Hunnicutt of Crowley; and eleven great grandchildren.
