
Doris O. Husted, 87, of Framingham, MA, formerly of New Hartford, NY, passed away December 5, 2017, after a period of declining health. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law Kyle and Jeff Colten, with whom she lived for the past nine years, her sons David in TN, and Dan and his wife Patty in FL, six wonderful grandchildren, and four beautiful great-grandchildren and her nephew, Ted Bernhardt and his family in GA. In addition, once she re-married, she gained a second family in the Husted’s and remained particularly close to her step-daughter, Kim Glapa and her family in TX. She also leaves many loyal friends back in New Hartford, NY, where she spent most of her adult life. Doris was predeceased by her second husband, Philip Husted, and a sister, Mildred Bernhardt. When her children were in their teens, she decided to go back to school and earned both her bachelor’s degree in English Literature and her master’s degree in library science. She had a lifelong love of reading and became a librarian for several years in local schools in the area. In addition to her love of reading, she was an avid bridge player and played in several bridge groups throughout the years. A celebration of her life will be held Saturday, December 16’th from 1:00-3:00 pm at the Friedel, Williams & Edmunds Funeral & Cremation Services, 13 Oxford Rd, New Hartford, NY. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations to the American Cancer Society, PO Box 22478, Oklahoma City, OK 73123, or to the ASPCA, PO Box 96929, Washington, DC, 20090-6929.
