Buford Ray South, age 94, of Franklin, Ohio passed away on Tuesday, March 22, 2022, at his residence. Buford was born in Quick Sand, Kentucky on October 15, 1927 ,the son of the late Floyd and Golden (Witt) South.
He was also preceded in death by his loving wife of 71 1/2 years, Betty Ann on May 24, 2020, a brother, John and a sister, Maude.
Buford is survived by a daughter, Pam Owens, of Franklin ; two sons, Greg South, Jeff (Kim) South, both of North Carolina; 11 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren.
He was a veteran of the Army Air Force and retired from Armco Steel after 35 years of service. Buford was a 60 year member of Jefferson Lodge #90 F.& A.M., Middletown Chapter #87 Royal Arch Masons, Middletown Commandery #71, Knights Templar and was an avid golfer.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, April 1, 2022, at the Anderson Funeral Home-Franklin Chapel, 1357 East Second Street. Interment will military honors will follow at Woodside Cemetery in Middletown. The family will receive visitors at the funeral home from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the service on Friday.
