
Dinzle Roy Brown, Sr., age 92, a former resident of Monroe, died Friday, February 17, 2012 at the Atrium Medical Center. He was born October 18, 1919 in Menifee County, Kentucky, the son of Asa Brown and Naomi Pergram Brown. Dinzle served in the U.S. Army during World War II, receiving numerous medals and distinctions including the Bronze Star. He served in Europe, Sicily and North Africa in the 1st Division with The Big Red One, and fought in seven campaigns including D-Day and the Battle of the Bulge. Dinzle retired from General Motors after 35 years. His survivors include one son, Dr. Dinzle R. Brown Jr. and his wife, Pamela Elaine Brown; two grandchildren, Jillaine Kaye Ballenger and her husband, John, and Blaine Asa Brown; and four great grandchildren, Zachary M. Ballenger, Alliya M. Ballenger, Dakota Reese Brown, and Branson A. Brown. He was preceded in death by his wife of 66 years, Kathleen M. McCarty Brown in 2011; his parents; two sisters, Marie Brewer, Viola Brewer; a half sister, Nettie Lykins; and his twin brother, Winzle Reed Brown. Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Wednesday at the Breitenbach-McCoy-Leffler Funeral Home with Mr. John Ballenger officiating. Visitation will be from 1:00 PM to service time Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial will be at the Woodside Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Mt.
