Ducky, as she was known to most of the world, was born on April 27, 1931 in Altro, KY and was the second of Mattie and James B. Deaton’s eleven children. When she was a young girl, the entire family moved to Middletown, OH, where Ducky lived all of her adult life.
Ducky was a gifted cook and was happiest when entertaining family and friends. She loved playing cards, board games, crocheting, and was a late-in-life Cincinnati Reds fan. Ducky was quick with a joke, a wink, and a smile.
She demonstrated through actions that the most important thing in life is dedication to your family. She always visited those who were ill, brought an afghan and booties to new moms, and provided food to those who were grieving. Her family was enormous and every member of it felt her love.
She is survived by her devoted husband of 22 years, John Sebastian, and her two children, Steven (Kaye) Sabota and Melanie (Bob) Everhart. She was adored by her five grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. She will be deeply missed by her siblings, Naomi Rudd, Ida Dixon, J.B. Deaton, and Gail (Jack) Jackson.
Ducky was married to Miles Haddix until his death in 1994. He undoubtedly welcomed her to Heaven. Alongside him were her parents, and siblings, Wanda Mae Albin, Bertie Ann Puckett, Ruth Loveless, John T. Deaton, Lloyd Deaton, and Jean Hollon.
Visitation will be Monday September 22, 2025 at Anderson Funeral Home 1357 E 2nd St Franklin, OH from 11am to 1pm followed by the Funeral Service with Chaplain Ralph Vincell officiating. Entombment will be in Woodside Cemetery.
