Gordon Bricker of Carlisle, OH passed away on Tuesday, March 30, 2021 at the age of 80 years, after losing his brief battle with pancreatic cancer. He was born in Proctorville, OH. After graduating high school as valedictorian, his love of learning continued lifelong. Gordon moved to Carlisle where he met his wife, Carrie Gentry of Beattyville, KY, as they were each visiting their respective sisters, who schemed to get them together. They have a daughter, Pamela, the love of their life, who he endowed with all his common sense and jack-of-all trades mentality.
Gordon worked at Hankins Container Corporation and then the Miamisburg Mound Facility for several different companies until he officially retired in 1997. After retirement, he missed working and returned to Mound Manufacturing one day per week to fix what no one else could, and finally retired in October 2020.
Gordon and Carrie were inseparable and celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary on Christmas Eve, 2020.
Gordon was an avid bowler and was always up for a toe-tapping bluegrass concert. In later years he passed on his gardening passion to his granddaughter, Nora. His fresh dirt tomatoes were a hit with his extended family around the country. He was a man of many talents. He excelled at fixing most everything around the house: building an addition to his home, clock building, hanging ceiling fans for everyone he knew, building his own computers, working on cars, collecting knives, and is the best fix-it guy we know. Gordon was a strong, proud and caring man who is loved and will be missed by many.
He is survived by his loving wife Carrie; daughter Pamela Forknall (George), granddaughter Nora Forknall (Forrest DeGroat), Sister Traci McMahan (Norman), and best almost-daughter Jackie McKinnson (Angie).
He will be entombed at Miami Valley Memory Gardens in Centerville. In lieu of flowers, he and his family would appreciate a memorial donation in his name to be made to Hospice of Dayton at http://www.hospiceofdayton.org.
