Jimmie Ray Perry, son of the late Emmit and Anna Perry of Kentucky, passed away on Saturday, January 3, 2026. He was predeceased in death by his loving wife, Marilyn Marie Williams Perry, whom he has terribly missed since her unexpected death in 1998.
Jimmie is survived by son Jeffrey Hammonds of West Alexandria, Ohio, and daughter DeAnna Perry of Juneau, Alaska as well as daughter in law, Robin Hammonds, one grandson Lee Hammonds, his wife Rachel and three great grandchildren, Audrina, Berklee, and Deegan.
He is also survived by two sisters, Bonnie Gambill of South Lebanon, Ohio and Connie Brown of Frenchburg, Kentucky. He had 9 siblings that went to heaven before him: Bernice Gillam, Earnest Perry, Charles Perry, J.D. Perry, Geneva Barker, Harold Perry, Ronnie Perry, Barbara Murphy, and Nannie Peck.
Jimmie served in the Army as part of the 'Big Red One', the 1st Infantry Division out of Fort Riley, Kansas. He saw action oversees during the Vietnam conflict and in later years, shared some of these stories with family and friends - particularly his experiences of his driving around the company commander. It was during his basic training at Fort Riley, Kansas, that he met Marilyn Williams. They were married shortly before he was deployed. Upon returning from Vietnam, he, Marilyn, and Jeff moved to Ohio and it was there that DeAnna was born. The family grew up in Ohio as Jimmie worked as a heavy equipment operator for the rest of his adult working life. He dug many basements for houses built in the 90s in the Middletown and surrounding areas. Throughout his life, Jimmie enjoyed being active and working with his hands up until age, shrapnel, and arthritis limited many of his favorite activities. In the 80s, he built a large log cabin in Tennessee for the family home. Later, he finished out a cabin in Kentucky from just a shell frame. He enjoyed being out of doors as much as possible. From house and yard chores to fun hobbies like hunting and fishing. He loved to go over to Indiana and work with Marilyn on their property. Developing a pond, clearing land, and camping. He loved sharing this place with family and looked forward to hunting and fishing with them. In later years, you'd find him 'piddling' out in the yard or garage or sitting on the front porch watching the deer. Jimmie loved his family and he loved the Lord.
Visitation will be Saturday January 10, 2026 at Anderson Funeral Home 1357 E 2nd St Franklin, OH from 12pm to 2pm. The Funeral Service will be 2pm Saturday with Pastor Danny Griffith officiating and military honors will be rendered.
