John was born on February 20, 1949, in Chicago, Illinois, to the late Dominick and Josephine (Calandra) Cecala. He was a graduate of college, earning a Bachelor’s degree, and spent his working career as a garage door manufacturer. A proud Chicago native, John was a devoted fan of the Chicago Bears and followed them faithfully throughout his life.
In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by his brother, Anthony Cecala.
He is survived by his sister-in-law, Myra Cecala; his cousins, Theresa Haynes, Francine Conti, Joann Moyer, and Josephine Girardi; and his lifelong friend, David Johnson, along with David’s partner, Cindy West.
