
John W. Leffel, age 83, of Franklin, Ohio passed away on Friday, July 31, 2015 at Hillspring Health Care Center in Springboro. He was born in Springfield, Ohio on November 19, 1931 to the late Harry and Ester (Hinkle) Leffel.
John was a 1950 graduate of Springfield H.S. He proudly served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. He attended The Ohio State University where he studied Civil Engineering. John worked with the Ohio Department of Transportation for 30 years, retiring in 1986. After retirement, he worked in landscaping. John also volunteered at the U.S. Air Force Museum, realizing his love for aviation. In his younger days, John worked on his uncle's farm. He enjoyed the outdoors and liked to go hiking in the woods. He was a loving husband and father and will be missed by his friends and family.
John will be missed by his loving wife of 54 years, Shelby (Ingram) Leffel ;sons, Thomas Leffel and Douglas Leffel; sister, Ruth Moore; niece, Carolyn Moore; and cousin, Iva Hinkle.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, August 5, 2015 from 6:00 pm-8:00 pm at Anderson Funeral Home, Franklin, OH and Thursday, August 6, 2015 from 11 am-12 pm in the chapel at Glen Haven Memorial Gardens, New Carlisle, OH. Private burial will be held.
