Beloved husband of Joyce Frazier of 60 years; loving father to Julie ShineSam and Karen KohlerJack; proud grandfather to Nicholas, Jacob, Jennifer Shine, Carlton, and Cassidy Kohler, great-grandfather of 6 months to Harvin James Kohler. Brother to Annie KreslJim. Uncle to Carey Ann and Greer Scarborough, and Son of the late John Thomas and Irene Schraffenberger.
John was born in Blue Island, Illinois, Serving proudly in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War and spending 8 months on the USS Phillipine Sea.
University of Cincinnati graduate in Marketing and Audio Visual, employed by Armco Steel for 25 years making motion pictures & industrial films before
retiring in 1980.
John was very active in the community -- he founded the Trenton Swim Club and participated in the Trenton Junior Achievement until moving to Monroe, Ohio, where he became a Village Councilman, started and ran the Monroe Tennis Clinics and coached girls softball. He was a member of the Kiwanis for over 30 years, being the highest pancake tickets seller for many years, as well as severing as past president.
In Middletown John participated in The Little Theater, Junior Achievement, and was an active member of the Monroe United Methodist Church for over 40 years, singing in the choir.
Friends will be received at 10:00 am, with a Memorial Service following at 11:00, the Monroe United Methodist Church.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Crossroads Hospice Charitable Foundation or the Monroe United Methodist Church, Helping Hands.
