John Franklin Thurston was born on December 12, 1936, in Madison County, Indiana to the late Ralph and Vera (Crull) Thurston. He passed away on January 5, 2026, at the age of 89. John was a resident of Cincinnati, Ohio.
John Franklin Thurston passed away peacefully in his home after a prolonged battle with prostate cancer. He is survived by his wife Mary (née Berger), his three daughters, Stacey Thurston, Gwyn (Steve) Williams, and Amy (Brett) Krumrey. He has nine grandchildren, three great grandchildren and one great great grandson. He is also survived by his sister, Martha Lallathin and a myriad of nieces, nephews and cousins.
John graduated from Franklin College in 1958 and pursued a career in the computer industry. In 2003 he retired and began teaching math at the local community college where he stayed until 2022. He was an avid runner and later in life enjoyed golfing and horseback riding.
A Celebration of Life will be Saturday, January 24, 2026 from 3 to 7 PM at Delhi Event Center.
