Lawrence Donald Van Sr,

Lawrence Donald Van, Sr. born on January 22, 1933, passed away with is family by his side on January 23, 2026, at the age of 93. He was a resident of Springboro, Ohio. Preceded in death by his parents Lawrence R. Van and Vera (Borgerding) Van, along with his beloved children Linda Marie Van, Charles Edward Van, and Lawrence Donald Van, Jr.

He is survived by his devoted wife of 72 years, Marian (Knight) Van, who remained his steadfast partner through every season of life. Larry leaves behind his children Kathleen (Dowd) and her husband Larry, Andrew Van and his wife Angela, and Christina (Berger) and her husband James. He was a proud grandfather to eight grandchildren and a joyful great‑grandfather to twelve, each of whom brought him deep pride and happiness.

Larry graduated from Elder High School in Cincinnati, Ohio in 1951, where he lettered in track and played trumpet in the school band. He retired from Smurfit Graphic Arts in 1995 and also spent many years capturing memories for others as a wedding photographer.

A former member of the Knights of Columbus, Larry found joy in simple pleasures. He loved setting up a booth at the flea market and attending auctions, always tinkering with the treasures he brought home. He was happiest outdoors, tending to his yard, flowerbeds, garden, koi pond, and the birds that visited daily. A loyal fan of the Cincinnati Reds and Ohio State, he rarely missed a chance to cheer them on.

Larry’s life was shaped by dedication — to his family, to his work, and to the hobbies that brought him peace. His presence will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew him.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 12:00 p.m. Tuesday, February 3, 2026, at St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church, 9579 Yankee Road, Springboro, Ohio. The family will receive visitors from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the mass on Tuesday. Final resting place will be in Calvary Cemetery, Kettering, Ohio.
