Leonard Gilbert

Leonard Gilbert, age 81, of Franklin, Ohio, passed away peacefully on Monday, December 22, 2014 at Hospice of Butler-Warren Counties. He was born in Spurlock, Kentucky on March 20, 1933, to the late Taylor and Bitha (Stewart) Gilbert. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his grandson, Jace, brothers, Elmer, Green and Mitchell; sister, Susan; and very special sister-in-law Wilma "Jack" Hough. Leonard is survived by his wife of 58 years, Betty Unger Gilbert; two daughters, Kimberly Wooten, Karen (Mike) Weist; son, Mike (Becky) Gabbard; four granddaughters, Holly, Heather, Chelsea, Miranda; two great-granddaughters, Kassidy, Isla; and great-grandson, Kohen. Leonard was a veteran of the 101st Airborne of the United States Army, was employed with General Motors for 30 years and retired in 1979. He also barbered part-time in Carlisle and Franklin for over 50 years. Funeral services are 11:00 am on Wednesday, December 31, 2014 at Anderson Funeral Homes, 1357 East Second Street Franklin, Ohio with Pastor Bobby Reed officiating. Burial will be in Buford Cemetery, Buford, Ohio, with military honors. Visitation will be Tuesday, December 30, 2014 from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm at the funeral home with a Masonic Service beginning at 8:00 pm.
