Lucy Nelson

Lucy M. Nelson age 86 passed away Sunday, June 12, 2011 at Atrium Medical Center. She was born August 20, 1924 in Franklin, Ohio. She graduated from Franklin High School and served in the US Army from 1942 to 1945 as part of the Women's Army Corps (WAC). She worked at Armco Steel for many years until retirement in 1981 and was a lifetime member of Franklin First United Methodist Church, where she served on many committees and boards. Lucy was a volunteer at Sycamore Hospital for over 15 years, member of the Board of Directors for the local American Heart Association Chapter, and also a member of the Clearcreek Garden Club.

She is preceded in death by her mother, Marjorie Mendoza and her husband, Douglas G. Nelson.

Lucy is survived by her step-daughters, Dawn M. Nelson, Kelly Nelson Eoannou, and Brooke Nelson and her step-grandchildren, Melanie Jacobi Jones, Julie Jacobi, Casey Eoannou, and Kylie Eoannou.

Funeral service will be Friday, June 17, 2011 at 1:00 PM at the First United Methodist Church (303 South Main Street, Franklin, OH) Visitation will be from 12:00 PM until time of service at the Church. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Franklin First United Methodist Church or Humane Association of Warren County.
