Marjorie Elizabeth Barcalow died October 26,2020. Born February 18, 1922 in Franklin, Ohio to Ray and Gladys Schwytzer Kinder. She was a graduate of Franklin High School, Class of 1939, and a graduate of Middletown (Ohio) Business College. Marjorie’s first job was working in an insurance office and later Anderson Lumber Company, but early on it became apparent her passion was sewing. She was an accomplished seamstress, making beautiful drapes and slipcovers for appreciative clients in the Franklin, Middletown, and Dayton area. Marjorie married Jack Leonard Barcalow in 1942. They had a full and happy life together enjoying ballroom dancing and fishing. She was a faithful member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Franklin, Ohio. Marjorie enjoyed playing all kinds of card games. At one time she was active in four Bridge Clubs at the same time. Many members of these clubs and the residence of the Brownstone apartments have been her most treasured friendships. In 2007, Marjorie entered Mount Pleasant Assisted Living in Monroe, Ohio. While there, she enjoyed playing cards, bingo, participating in the craft classes, and spending endless hours putting together puzzles, reading books, and her Bible. Marjorie is preceded in death by her husband, Jack Barcalow, her son, Mark Steven Barcalow, and her brother, John F. Kinder.
She is survived by her daughters, Cherie (Jim) Hatcher of New Concord, Ohio, Linda (Allyn) Davis of Williamsburg, Virginia, her niece, Marylin Wills of Middletown, Ohio, and her sister, Marty Gifford of Tampa, Florida. Marjorie had four grandchildren, Meg (Steve) Lorenz, Trevor Hatcher, Tylor Nesbitt, and David (Jennifer) Barcalow. She enjoyed being a great grandmother to her five great grandchildren, Lily Anne Nesbitt, Hannah Lorenz, Violet Barcalow, Hayden Barcalow and Logan Barcalow.
