

Mrs. Mary Louise Maupin, 96 years old, passed away on June 12, 2015 at Woodlands of Middletown. She was born in Middletown, Ohio on August 27, 1918 the daughter of Harrison Leroy Dell and Mary Lydia (Doty) Dell. She was a direct descendent of both Daniel Doty and Stephen Vail, founders of Middletown.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, A.R. Maupin, Jr. who died in 1996. Her sister, Frances Dell Worcester and brothers, Robert and Richard Dell also preceded her in death.
She is survived by her four children, Ronald D. Maupin, Richard R. (wife, Bonnie) Maupin, James M. (wife, Donna) Maupin, and Marilyn S. (husband, Steve) Weinstein, all of Middletown. She is also survived by eleven grandchildren; Michelle Dobrozsi, Bill Maupin, Ron Maupin, Mark Maupin, Laura Turner, Richard C. Maupin, James D. Maupin, Peter Maupin, Rachel Weinberg, Josh Weinstein, Zack Weinstein; also ten great-grandchildren.
Mary Louise was graduated from Middletown High School in 1936, attended Denison University where she was a member of Chi Omega Sorority, and Middletown Business College. She then worked in the law office of her father, Harrison L. Dell, a prominent Middletown attorney and Middletown's first municipal judge, before marrying in 1941. She was a very active lifelong member of the First Baptist Church where she served as deacon and with the board of trustees. She was president of the American Baptist Women, participated in the Women's Missionary Society, the Mary Dell Circle (named for her mother), and quilting with the "Piecemakers" for 25 years. Mary Louise was an avid bridge player, starting her first club "the Crazy Eights" at the age of 13. She was active in the Junior League of Middletown. She served as president of Phi Beta Psi sorority. She was a life member of the Middletown Historical Society, a member of the Home Culture Club, and the Wildwood Golf Club.
Visitation will be from 1:00 pm-2:00 pm Friday, July 3, 2015 at the Woodside Cemetery Chapel with funeral services at 2:00 pm at the chapel with Reverend John Dick officiating. Burial will be at the Woodside Cemetery.
