Mike was born September 9th, 1955, in Middletown, Ohio, to Hiram Depew Jr. and Elizabeth (June) Depew.
He graduated from Carlisle High School in 1973 and joined the United States Air Force shortly after. After serving his country, he went on to work in the gas and electric industry for 33 years. Mike had a love for music and the trumpet, which he played for various organizations including “Reload,” the band he founded.
Mike was an avid outdoorsman. He loved fishing in some of his favorite spots on Lake Waynoka and Lake Erie. He also enjoyed turkey and deer hunting and was a founding member of the Little Valley Hunt Club.
Mike was a proud husband, father, brother, and grandfather. He loved his family very much. He is survived by his mother Elizabeth (June) Depew; his wife of 40 years Christine; his children Tanya (James), Jennifer (Christopher), Adam (Meredith), and Katherine (Dominic); his grandchildren, Daniel, Gabriella, Jackson, Jase, Levi, Elijah, and Lucas; and his siblings, Robert and Melissa.
He was preceded in death by his father Hiram Depew Jr.
A visitation with friends and family will be held at Anderson Funeral Home, 1357 East Second Street, Franklin, Ohio, on Sunday, May 2nd from 2:00-5:00pm. The Celebration of Life service will be Monday, May 3rd starting at 11:00am, officiated by Brian Morris. A graveside service will follow at New Jersey Presbyterian Cemetery with military honors.
