
Terry Bernard Kot, 79, of Rapid City, MI, passed away peacefully on September 9, 2025.
Born in Ypsilanti, in 1946, he was the only child to Bernard and Marion Kot. Terry grew up in Plymouth, attending Plymouth High School before earning a bachelor’s degree in business from Eastern Michigan University. For 30 years, he served as an administrator in the Waterford School District, excelling in Human Resources and Operations. Terry also contributed his expertise as a member of the board of directors for Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Michigan for 20 years. In “retirement,” Terry worked at the Home Depot stores in Cadillac and Traverse City for another 20 years. A proud veteran, he served in the United States Army Reserve and Michigan National Guard.
Terry was preceded in death by his parents, Bernard and Marion Kot. He is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Maryann Kot; his proud son, Jeffrey Kot (Jean); grandchildren Heather Jackson (Ryan), Brandon Kot (Katelyn), and Lauren Kot (Ethan); and great-grandchildren William, Gabriella, and Madeleine.
A devoted family man, Terry talked proudly about his loved ones to his many friends and fellow workers. He will be greatly missed but his legacy of quiet strength and immense pride will endure.
A private family gathering to celebrate Terry’s life was held on Friday, September 12th.
