

Virginia Ariste Christy, age 71, passed away 11 a.m. on Thursday, April 18 at Kettering Memorial Hospital in Kettering, Ohio. Virginia was born September 17, 1941 in Brooklyn, New York to the late Jim and Jean Tsalbins. She graduated from the legendary Erasmus Hall High School where she later taught Biology after earning a BS at Brooklyn College. She married George Christy in 1964 and moved to Middletown in 1965. After a few months adjustment, she adopted Middletown as her own and was very active in many organizations including Ivy League Garden Club, The Bull's Run Arboretum Board, The American Heart Association Board, P.E.O. Sisterhood, Current Events Club, The W.H.I.I.M.S. board Womens Health Issues in Middletown, R.A.K. Random Acts of Kindness, The Ladies Philoptochos Society, G.O.Y.A., and The Daughters of Penelope. One of her favorite activities was chairing luncheons and High Tea Parties for fund raisers. In Middletown, she taught at the Carousel Nursery School for many years and followed that with being a dental health educator and office manager at Noonan, Brockman and Pollack until retirement in 2012. She is survived by her husband of 49 years, George; a daughter, Jeanine Kestler Rich of Encinitas, CA; a son, Dean Christy Melissa of Powell, OH; a brother, Dr. Semeon Tsalbins Sally of New Haven, CT; and nieces and nephews. She dearly loved her grandchildren Alex Kestler and George, Sophia and Catherine Christy with whom she bonded thru many projects such as designing and making custom Halloween costumes for them and taking them on many educational excursions. Visitation will be at Breitenbach-McCoy-Leffler Funeral Home on Sunday from 5 to 8 p.m. and a funeral service at the Sts. Constantine and Helen Greek Orthodox Church in Middletown at 10 a.m. Monday, April, 22, 2013. Memorial contributions may be made to Sts.
