

Wiley Jones, 93, of Middletown, previously of West Elkton, Ohio died August 28, 2017. He was born May 20, 1924 in Canal City, Ky. He was preceded in death by his wife of 63 years, Ethel Jones; his son, William (Butch) Boyd Jones; his mother and father, Mertie and Green Jones; sister, Geneva; brother, Custer, granddaughter, Stephanie Brown; grandson, Michael Jones and six half brothers.
Wiley is survived by his sons, Stephan (Dianne) Jones and Dale (Vicki) Jones; daughters, Lucy Jamison, Wanda Lady and Denise Jones; 16 grandchildren; 27 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild.
Wiley, usually called Bill, Uncle Bill or papaw was on his own from age nine. A survivor, he joined the 3Cs (Civilian Conservation Corp) when he was 16. After two years he was "mustered out" and performed migratory work until he was 19. Visiting his sister Geneva in Middletown during WWII in 1944, he met and married Ethel Hoskins. He started work at Inland Container for two years. He moved to Packaging Corporation of America until his retirement in 1986. After retirement, he and his wife traveled the US and parts of Canada on a delayed honeymoon. Wiley loved working outdoors in his garden, cooking, walking and grocery shopping. He was a self-made man who believed in hard work and the strong core values of family.
Funeral services are Thursday, August 31, 2017 at 1:00 pm at Breitenbach Anderson Funeral Home, 517 S. Sutphin Street Middletown, OH. Burial in Butler County Memorial Park. Visitation will be held on Thursday, August 31, 2017 from 11:00 am-1:00 pm at the funeral home.
