(Sister Bel)
January 12, 1925 – May 7, 2013
Resident of Alameda, CA
Miss Belen Y. Mamaril slipped away peacefully and was promoted to glory on Tuesday, May 7, 2013 at 7:30 in the evening at her hospital bed, to be in the presence of her loving Savior for all eternity.
Born in San Miguel district, Manila, Philippines, Belen graduated a 4-year course of Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of the Philippines (U.P.). She was teaching at the U. P. Diliman, Quezon City, Philippines until she was hired as a civilian employee at the U. S. Air Force Base in Clark Field, Pampanga, Philippines from 1945 to 1971. On June 14, 1973, Belen migrated to the United States as a special immigrant. Then she joined the work force of CNA, an insurance company in South San Francisco until she retired from the company on March 1998.
Because of her penchant for travel, in year 2000 Belen, together with her close friends in the Bay Area visited the famous Oberammergau in Austria, depicting the Passion of Jesus Christ, which gets celebrated only every ten years. She also toured Germany, France and Switzerland.
Years later, Belen made a big decision in her life - she accepted Jesus Christ as her personal Lord and Savior. Her age was never a deterrent factor in learning to grow in her new Christian life. Almost in every bible study group or ladies fellowship, sister Bel, as she has been affectionately called, was always there. She loved serving the Lord in the ministry of Westside Baptist Church – Alameda. In 1999 to 2006, sister Bel was entrusted the position of church treasurer where she served so faithfully and well.
Family, friends and associates from previous jobs are all invited to a Celebration of her life which will be held at Westside Baptist Church, 1515 Santa Clara Avenue (corner Stanton), Alameda, CA on Saturday, June 1, 2013 at 3:00 o’clock in the afternoon. In lieu of flowers, donation may be made to Westside Baptist Church to help all the arrangements that extend to her beloved families in Malolos City, Bulacan, Philippines and in Singapore. Her remains will be buried in Loyola Memorial Park in Marikina City, Philippines.
