

Brian Stuart Barthelow was born January 29, 1960, and died on November 27, 2024. He was born in Landstuhl, Germany where his family was stationed. His father, Adam Joseph Barthelow was a Major in the United States Army. Brian grew up in Seaside, California where he attended Monterey High School, and graduated in 1979. He also attended Chico State University, and then attended a CAD school where he became a Computer Aided Drafter. After completing his education, he was employed by LifeScan as a CAD Drafter. He later attended Cal State Hayward and became a Paralegal.
Brian met a fun, loving young lady, a teacher, Natalie LaRocca in 1993 and proposed to her by moonlight in a romantic horse drawn carriage. They married in 1997 and toured Italy on their honeymoon. Their first child, Noah, was born in 2008 and their second child, Layla, was born in 2009. Dina joined their family in 2008 and has been like a daughter to Brian & Natalie and a sibling to Noah & Layla. Brian was a wonderful husband, son, and brother. He was a doting father and truly loved his beautiful family.
Brian was a surfer and beach goer who enjoyed sports and loved going to baseball games with his brother Dirk. He also enjoyed seeing his family & friends at his brother Bob’s yearly parties! He watched football, especially when the Miami Dolphins/49ers were playing. Brian loved going camping and swimming with his wife and kids, and he would always have fun lighting the fire pit to make s’mores with the kids & their friends. He was an avid reader, especially of History & National Geographics. He was a fun guy, every morning he would ask Alexa to play “Sugar, Sugar” and then dance to it. Karaoke was also something he enjoyed, he always sang, "The Gambler," "I've Been Everywhere," & "A Boy Named Sue." On his wilder side he shared flying in a small plane and an AC/DC concert with Natalie. His kids heard him loudly playing Thunder Struck on many of their rides! Brian was an Alter Boy as a kid and later enjoyed learning about the Bible. He looked forward to his weekly Bible studies and videos. Brian favored experiencing different cultures and their foods. He would close his eyes and savor every bite. This strong man had no problem showing his emotions, he could cry over a good Hallmark with Natalie and Disney movies with his kids. He would never miss the T.V. show, “Finding Your Roots.” In Italy, the Italian female relatives thought he was wonderful cause he was willing to help out with after dinner chores and make homemade pasta with a hanger!
Brian and Natalie always supported charities that involved children and pets. They sponsored fundraisers to raise money for elementary school computers and for Foster kids in Alameda County.
He also volunteered at Leitch Elementary school in Natalie’s classroom and on field trips.
Brian was predeceased by his father, Adam Joseph Barthelow, his mother, Myra Fae Barthelow, and his 2 brother-in-laws, Bill Campbell and Jerry Day. He is survived by his wife, Natalie, his son, Noah, his daughters, Layla & Dina. He is also survived by 7 siblings: (Iz) Elinor Campbell, Bob (Sue) Barthelow, Pat Barthelow, Michael (Marcia) Barthelow, Terry (Susan) Barthelow, Barbara (Tom) Glazis, and Dirk (Leah) Barthelow. He was very close to his in-laws: Mellina LaRocca, Rosa Day, and Ben (Audrey) LaRocca. He had numerous nieces and nephews with whom he enjoyed playing games such as, Ten Thousand, Pictionary, Jenga, Scrabble, Scat, Texas Holdem, and Uno etc…
Brian will be remembered for his humbleness, his helpfulness toward his Mom & Wife, his kindness, his willingness to make his kids happy and for the love 💕 he had for his family and friends.
