

Bruno V. de la Vega, 84, of Everdale Drive, San Jose, CA, passed away Jan. 31, 2012 at his residence. He was born Oct. 6, 1927, in San Carlos City, Philippines, a son of the late Pedro de la Vega and Maria de Vera de la Vega. Bruno was of the Catholic faith. He attended Far Eastern University before enlisting in the Philippine Army.
Bruno worked for the Central Bank of the Philippines before immigrating to the United States in 1977. He continued his profession working as an Accountant for San Mateo County until his retirement in 1992. While working as a civil servant, he started his own tax preparation business mostly working during weekends and nights. This business allowed him to help hundreds of customers over the years, often out of his own home. He enjoyed being outside gardening, watching boxing and jogging. He was savvy with technology, always carefully preserving memories for his family and friends. He took great pride in all the accomplishments of his children and grandchildren.
Bruno is survived by his beloved wife of 57 years, Catalina Garcia de la Vega, and seven sons, Romeo de la Vega and wife Charito Borromeo de la Vega of Danville, Merlo de la Vega and wife Grace Barroga de la Vega of San Jose, Bueno de la Vega and wife Yvonne Lee de la Vega of Singapore, Edwin de la Vega and wife Jean Marie Agustin de la Vega of San Jose, Elvis de la Vega of San Jose, Ariel de la Vega of San Jose, and Raymund de la Vega of San Jose. He is also survived by nine grand children Rochelle, Kevin, Ryan, Melvin, Tammy, Gavin, Vanessa, Lauren, Matthew and sister Nena Mamuyac of Bulacan, Philippines. Bruno was a caring provider to his wife, children and grandchildren and was loved and respected by all who knew him.
