

Doris (Dot) Rachel McCormick passed away at home in Fremont, CA on December 7, 2015. She was born to the late Eva and Hidala Lussier of Dracut Massachusetts on April 8, 1925. She married John (Mac) McCormick of Dracut Massachusetts in 1947. They celebrated thirty-five years of marriage before Mac’s passing at the age of 57.
Dot was a school secretary with Fremont Unified School District until she retired in 2000. She watched many elementary students at Timothy Rix and James Leitch schools in Fremont, graduate to middle school.
Doris was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Parish, Fremont, CA for over 30 years and attended St. Thomas More Catholic Church in Henderson Nevada for 10 years. Dot and Mac were active members of their parish involved as Eucharistic ministers and with Marriage Encounter.
Dot liked to travel, visiting over 48 countries and volunteer her time, including the Don Edwards San Francisco Bay National Wildlife Refuge.
Doris is survived by two children: Patricia McCormick Ayala of Fremont, CA and Kenneth McCormick with his wife Hege Karsti Ragnhildstveit of Oslo, Norway. Doris was preceded in death by her daughter Kathleen McCormick in 2001. She is survived by five grandchildren, Elizabeth, Nicole, Marco, Embla and Freya.
She treasured her extended Lussier, Michaud, McCormick, and King families and left many nieces and nephews and other relatives in both Massachusetts and California.
In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations be sent to the Oblate Missions, which provide much assistance to the needy in Haiti.
A funeral mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday December 17, 2015 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Parish, Fremont, CA. Internment will be at Cedar Lawn Memorial Park at a later date.
