Editha Laureta Jumanan

Editha Laureta Jumanan, age 62 of San Jose, passed peacefully on June 11, 2013 after a brief struggle with cancer. Edith was born November 10th, 1950 to the late Paustino and Maria Laureta and her beloved adopted mom "Olivia Laureta" in Bangued, Abra, Philippines, she migrated to the United States in 1986 when she Married Joseph Jumanan and lived in San Jose, California.

Edith is survived by her husband Joseph Jumanan (Retired) of San Jose and her children Josephine Mendoza (graduate of Medical Assisting) and Ryan Mendoza (Navy) - San Jose, Ca; Jojo Jumanan (AirForce) - Anchorage, Alaska; and Her Newly Born Grand Child: Lianna Mendoza - San Jose, Ca. She also leaves behind numerous siblings, Martin, Romeo, Toting, Iddang, Andres, Allona, Rosario, as well as loving relatives and friends.

Family and friends were Edith's passion and delight. Edith was a hard working mother of two, who built a loving foundation for her family. With kindness, love, and a beautiful smile, she did everything possible to support her family and extended families.

Editha worked with Marvie Choy her longtime friend and employer at a local shop in Bangued, Abra, Philippines and then 10 plus years for Maxim Electronics in Sunnyvale, Ca and recently as a housekeeper for Atrium and Vintage Senior Care Homes in San Jose, Ca.

Edith recently had surgery April 4th to remove kidney cancer, however, it was found she had heart problems and we nearly lost her. She willed herself to survive as her granddaughter Lianna was to be born April 21st. Edith was a very happy Grandmother on a very special day as she eagerly awaited a visit with her grandchild.

Later while still recovering from surgery more cancer was revealed and it was very aggressive, soon it spread and she became terminally ill. She fought hard and was able to hold on long enough for her loving relatives and friends to show her the caring love, respect, and compassion of her large extended family.

Manang Edith you will be dearly missed. Ay Ayaten Ka Unay. (We Love you; miss you so much)
