

Frances Mae Sherrell, born on October 12, 1942, in St. Louis, Missouri, passed away peacefully on March 27, 2025, in Fremont, California.Frances was one of three children born to Alva Chester Hill and Vivian Emerine Hill. She moved with her family to San Francisco, California at age 14 where she attended George Washington High School and served as lifeguard at Fleishacker Swimming Pool. Over the years, she built a legacy rooted in love and service. She was the devoted mother of Christina, Rhonda, Robert, and Angie; cherished grandmother to Leah, Robbie, Matthew, Joshua, Ashley, Corey, and Samantha; proud great-grandmother to Kaytlin and Jacob; and delighted great-great-grandmother to Lailani.
A longtime resident of Milpitas, California, Frances was proud to be a Quality Assurance Inspector for space shuttle components. She was also a dedicated volunteer who gave thirty-five years of service to her community through the Milpitas Food Pantry and the Second Harvest Brown-Bag Food Program for seniors. Her commitment to helping others left a lasting impact on countless lives.
Frances found joy in life’s simple pleasures. She studied the Good News Bible and enjoyed bible study with her children. She loved tending her garden, preparing home-cooked meals for those around her, and especially enjoyed biscuits and gravy-one of her favorite treats. She was also fond of garage sales, flea markets, and feeding everyone around her.
Her warmth and generosity will be deeply missed by all who knew her. May her memory bring comfort and inspiration to those whose lives she touched.
