Francis Manuel Taberna was born on January 7, 1962 in Gerona, Tarlac, a province in the Philippines to Filadelfo Taberna Sr. and Telesfora Manuel. He is the youngest but tallest of all the six Taberna siblings.
Francis studied commerce and dentistry in Central Escolar University in Manila, Philippines and migrated to Taiwan for six years before moving to the United States in September of 1991. He worked at a factory, nursing home, and a burger joint in Illinois and stayed there for five years before finally settling down in California as a dental assistant with his brother until he finally retired as a loving house husband. When asked what his job was, he would jokingly answer "Nurse asawa ko" (my wife is a nurse).
Francis was well-known as "Saning" to this friends, "Ancis" to his siblings, and although he had no children- "Tatay Ancis" to his nieces and nephews whom he treated like his own.
In 1994, Francis married Viriginia "Gigi" Canave whom he called by the name "Joy." Francis was known to love singing, playing the guitar, playing basketball, darts, and telling jokes. He was a kind generous, man and was the king of comedy in the family, and thus everyone in his life mourned his death when he died of COPD (chronic obstructive pulmonary disease) at O'Connor Hospital on March 19, 2025.
Francis will always be remembered for his cheerful and charming aura and how he filled the room with laughter and tears of joy whenever he was present in it.
"In life, we loved you dearly. In death we love you still. In our hearts you hold a place no one else will ever fill."
