I would say my Dad touched a lot of people's hearts because of his ways - easy to talk to, likeable, humble, lively, friendly. He was simply sweet and romantic to my mom. Every year on her birthday and on Valentines Day, he would give her a red rose and a box of chocolates, just one rose because he knew she would say roses are expensive. He liked to hold her hand when they were walking. He loved to dance. Before he got sick, he would take my mom to the tune of sweet music, even at the backyard, to the enjoyment of everyone. He loved to dance with his young granddaughter from the time she was barely two. He loved to cook for his family and for relatives and friends who would be visiting.
He was loving, caring, kind, responsible and thoughtful, traits that we, his children, according to my mom, inherited from him.
He was a doting grandpa. His grandkids would ask him to cook pancakes, champorado, arrozcaldo which he would gladly do. The two younger ones loved his 'magics' when he put out from nowhere some chocolates. But he asked something from all his grandkids too - a massage of his back, arms and hands. They are still saying they miss him. The innocent mind of the younger grandson still asks "when is Papa coming back?"
He was a loving husband to my mom, great dad, grandpa and father-in-law, caring son-in-law to my 94 years old grandma, thoughtful brother, brother-in-law, cousin, uncle, nephew, and friend and he was much loved in return.
