Magdalena Garcia Velo

Madalena Velo, our beloved "Nanay" was born in Pozurobio, Pangasinan, Philippines on June 2, 1932. Magdalena was the second child of Farmer Artemio Garcia and his wife Brigida Pedriche. Artemio raised his 8 children.

At the age 18, her family decided to move to Alcala Pangasinan. Here is where she meet the love of her life -- the hard working and handsome Balbin Velo. The two fell in love and Magdalena got married at the age of 20.

She was the epitome of the perfect housewife and devoted her entire life for her family.

Magdalena was a choir member in the Church of Christ in her younger age. At the year of 1968 Magdalena and Balbin (her husband) decided to move to Caloocan, Manila, Philippines. She become a deaconess in the local congregation of Caloocan. Together Magdalena and Balbin moved to California, USA in the year of 1988.

Nanay was the joy and light of our lives. She was always smiling, laughing, and had the purest of heart Her unwavering faith in the Church of Christ is an example of how we all wish to be. She faced every trial and suffering with the greatest strength, but above all she placed her complete trust in God. She is our inspiration to continue on in our race and live a fulfilling life, just as she did. Nanay has touched the hearts of so many and her legacy will live on.

You are the woman we all wish to be. We will continue to make you proud. We love you with everything we have in us. Forever in our hearts... Until we meet again Nanay... <3
