I had many outstanding teachers at Brier Elementary School but Mrs. Brooks was my favorite. She went the extra mile and cared deeply about every student in her classroom. I had her in 3rd grade and  fondly remember her as my teacher.  My mom Tamara Cox used to volunteer in her class and she loved Mrs. Brooks dearly as well.

I heard about Mrs. Brooks' passing some time ago but just learned of this guest book. I'm so glad to get the opportunity to express my condolences, and to add to the voices here which show so clearly how loved Mrs. Brooks was. My brother and I were both in her combined 4-6 classes at Brier Elementary. She was a wonderful person, a phenomenal teacher. I am a teacher now, and a teacher of teachers; I just referred to her classroom last week as a model of what excellent teaching looks like. She touched so many lives, and I'm so lucky to have known her.

Mrs Brooks I was saddened to hear of your passing.  You were the best and my favorite teacher and how you taught three gifted grades all at once I can only imagine.  I always felt that you went out of your way to express caring and understanding to your students.  You definitely have a lasting legacy in all the students you nurtured through the years.

I met Marge a few months ago at the assisted living facility where I live. I found Marge to be two different people under one lovely personality. Marge knew her own mind and took a stand on different things which may lead some to think she was difficult. Yet I found her to be very kind, forgiving, and thoughtful. She went out of her way to thank people with small gifts or cards when she didn't have to. She laughed easily and was always positive in a forward looking way. Never for a moment did I suspect I would lose her so soon after meeting her. She was my friend for such a short time but I came to like her very much. I already miss seeing her and hearing her say "No, that's ok! I can do it myself." My best to the family and the sons especially since we went to school together. May God bless and be with you all. I was saddened by the news of Aunt Marge's passing. My heartfelt thoughts go out to you in this time of sorrow.

Marge , even though we have only managed to see each other during the holidays and special occasions at Don & Linda's house in my adult years ,I always looked forward to catching up with you . I enjoyed the times during my youth that you let me be your teachers aide , I learned alot by watching you in "action" and I can say that you are the only woman I ever knew that could sprint in high heels across a classroom ! I also learned the best way to remember how to differentiate similar sounding words from you , like Desert and DeSSert ,"You need that extra S for it, becuase that's something you'd want to have more of !" Know this my dear life long friend , YOU, will be dearly missed and fondly remembered . Till fate allows us to meet again, rest peacfully .

Dear Aunt Marge,  although we lived on opposite sides of the country & kept in touch vicariously via family members or rare & well timed emails, I have never forgotten the summer that I spent with you in California when I was 12; the fun and the experiences that I had, the things that you taught me & that I learned (whether you knew it or not) and the strong role model that you became for me in that short time. I remember your laugh, your smile and your love of ice cream, & chocolate chip cookie dough (I share that last one as well).  I remember going to Marie Callender's with you & trying  blue cheese dressing for the first time, because that's what you had ordered and I was imitating you.  I remember spending time with you at the cabin, reading. You'd ask questions and we'd discuss what I'd read.  You took a personal interest in me, in a way that, truly, no other adult ever had & I remember thinking what a great teacher you must be.
I am certain that you are in heaven right now with Uncle Ernie, smiling  that contagious smile, & laughing (maybe even eating ice cream and/or chocolate chip cookie dough).   Undoubtedly,  there is a  passel of curious children nearby that you have already begun to engage.  
The world is a better place because you've been here, Aunt Marge.

Marge, I know that you are in heaven laughing at me right now.  You are the least "tech savvy" person that I know.  I remember sitting next to you during computer class inservices.  You would be pushing all sorts of keys, going who knows where, and then look at me, I am the second "least tech savvy" person, for help.  We would sit there and laugh.  God bless you, I know that you are now with Ernie.  I will miss you and your wonderful laugh and spirit.
