Pallabi was the younger of the two siblings and was a very quiet person by nature. She was a Doctor, M.B.B.S., and a graduate of Classical Sangeet Academy; but she was so quiet about herself that many of her friends did not know about these. Pallabi was born in Ranchi, a beautiful town in eastern India known for its temperate weather and beautiful scenery.
Pallabi's father worked in the A.G. Bihar as a central government employee. He was frequently on the job related travel and her brother was also in a boarding school. So, Pallabi was her mother’s companion and carried many of the household chores on her shoulders. In later years, her parents were dependent on her like their son including getting Groceries, ration etc. She is missed by everyone who came to know her soft and gentle nature.
Pallabi spent her early childhood (pre-school) in Shillong, and then was in Ranchi except for a few years in Kolkata when her father was posted there for three years. While in Kolkata, her grandfather was paralyzed and Pallabi helped cheer her grandma and used to go to the park with her in the evenings.
Pallabi started her school in BSV (Bramhacharya Sangha Vidhyapeeth) near her home and later went to Doranda Girl’s High School. There she consistently took the second place in her class. After high school she went to Medical College at Ranchi and graduated with M.B.B.S. medical degree. However it was not her destiny to be a Physician. Before she could start her career, she married Manojit and moved to Providence, Rhode Island where her husband was a graduate student at Brown University.
Pallabi's husband left school in 1994 to work in San Jose, California. The young family moved to San Francisco Bay area. While Pallabi was trying to decide on her career, Pallabi's son, Arjun was born in the summer of 1995. Natasha, her daughter, followed in January, 1998. Pallabi devoted her time to Arjun and Natasha until Natasha was ready to go to pre-school.
Pallabi joined community education department of Ohlone College in Fremont in 2000 and worked there ever since. "Ohlone for Kids" - a popular summer program for Fremont kids was big part Pallabi's life at Ohlone College. She lived a very busy and fulfilling life.
