

Roque was born on August 5, 1946 at St. Luke's Hospital in Manila, Philippines. He was the son of Juan and Remedios Umali. Roque grew up in Manila, Nueva Ecija and Mindoro.
Roque was raised with 7 siblings. Chrystia, Ramon, Aris,Cory,Gogo,Sonny and John. Roque was usually involved in all sorts of activities with his siblings. He and his siblings experienced rivalries typical of a growing family, but they shared many life experiences over the years.
As a young boy, Roque had a number of interests. Like most children, he enjoyed playing and making up games. He was curious about the world around him and was often eager to explore it. In his spare time he liked to collect foreign money, He also enjoyed fishing and loved helping people around him. However, to Roque, the most fun to be had was simply playing and spending time with his friends.
On March 16,1972 (civil) and January 6, 1973 (church) Roque exchanged wedding vows with Helconida Nardo at Sto. Nino Parish Church of Pandacan, Manila. Empathic and loyal, Roque was committed to making his new family happy.
Roque worked hard to be a good father to his children and he did his best to fulfill their needs. Roque was blessed with two, Roy and Haverin. Another blessing for Roque was the gift of two grandchildren, Robin Christopher (Arkane) and Kent Raven (Kent).
Fortunately, Roque enjoyed what he did for a living. Showing a strong work ethic, Roque worked diligently and did his best to succeed in his career. His primary occupation was Facility Maintenance. He was employed for 10 years by the Valley Transit Authority. Roque always sought to be a team player, doing what was necessary in order to get the job done.
Roque enjoyed his leisure time by taking part in various hobbies. His favorite pursuits were coin collecting and singing. He was content to enjoy his favorite pastimes alone but was also willing to share his interests with others.
Roque was a lover of animals and cherished his pets. One of his favorites was Maltee, a maltese- shitzu mixed. They were best friends for 5 years.
Roque passed away on June 9, 2012 at Fremont, Ca. Roque fought a brave battle against liver cancer. He is survived by his wife, Helen and his children Jake and Haverin, Roy and Kathy; his grandchildren, Arkane and Kent; his mother Remedios, his brothers Ramon, Aries, Gogo, Sonny and John and sisters, Chrystia and Cory. Services were held at St. John's the Baptist, Milpitas, Ca. Roque will be laid to rest in Lima Mortuary in Milpitas-Fremont Ca.
Simply stated, Roque was a good and kind person, an individual who will for all time be remembered by his family and friends as being a caring and giving person, someone who was a vital part of their lives. Roque leaves behind him a legacy of life-long friendships and many cherished memories.
