

Bonnie Lou (Kammeier) Famulare, age 93, of Angola, Indiana, passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 22, 2026 with her daughter by her side.
She was born on April 1, 1932 in Fort Wayne, Indiana to the late Albert and Martha (Hoefelmeyer) Kammeier.
Bonnie graduated from Concordia Lutheran High School in Fort Wayne in 1950 and later from Parkview Hospital School of Nursing, Fort Wayne in 1955.
During her 25 years of her nursing career, Bonnie worked as a licensed registered nurse and was employed by private practices, Hospice and with Steuben County Council on Aging. Bonnie’s love for nursing was evident all her life.
In her younger years, Bonnie was an avid skier, a member of the Fort Wayne and Sitzmarks Ski Club. It was on the slopes that she met John Famulare and were married in 1963. Her first love was always her husband and children but in quiet moments she was a powerhouse reader. She also enjoyed taking canoe trips with friends. Another love was watching and feeding the birds and wildlife in her yard until 5 o’clock, when it was martini time with her loving cat Emma.
Bonnie was a longtime member of Calvary Lutheran Church in Angola, Indiana.
She is survived by her daughter, Christine Simmons of Angola, Indiana, and her grandchildren, Matthew, Michael and Rachael Simmons.
She was also preceded in death by a son, Kurt, former husband, John, son-in-law, Dick Simmons and a sister, Jeanette O’Toole.
Visitation will be held from 10 am until 11 am Saturday, January 31, 2026 at Calvary Lutheran Church, Angola, Indiana.
Funeral Services will follow at 11 am at Calvary Lutheran Church with Pastor Daryl Emowrey officiating the service.
Burial will be at Circle Hill Cemetery, Angola, Indiana.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be directed to Calvary Lutheran Church, Parkview Hospice, the Community Humane Shelter of Steuben County or to the Carnegie Public Library.
