David was born on December 3, 1947 in Garrett, Indiana to CR and Gladys (Everetts) Smart.
He served in the United States Marine Corps, and was a member of the Fremont American Legion Cassel Post # 257.
David worked for Cold Heading in Fremont, Indiana.
Survivors include his wife, Lynda Smart of Angola, Indiana, sons, Tony Smart of Fort Leavenworth, Kansas, Tim (Melissa) Smart, of Tampa, Florida, and Chris Smart of Kentucky, grandchildren, Peyton, Addison, and Jackson Smart, sisters, Dorothy (Charles) Hays of Shreveport, Louisiana, Sharon (Rodney) Wells of Florida, a brother, CR Smart of Washington, North Carolina, a sister-in-law, Loretta Smart of Angola, Indiana, and many nieces and nephews.
David was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Larry Smart, and sisters, Patsy Michael, Phyllis Hutchins, and Nancy Wilcox.
Memorial Services will be held at 11 am Saturday, January 4, 2020 at Beams Funeral Home, Fremont, Indiana.
Burial will follow at Lakeside Cemetery, Fremont, Indiana, with Military Honors conducted by members of Fremont American Legion Cassel Post 257 color guard and the United States Marine Corps Honor Guard.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations in David’s memory may be directed to the Fremont American Legion or Angola VFW.
