
He was born on February 26, 1957 in Danville, Illinois to the late Willis “Pete” and Ellen (Hagerman) Kistler.
He grew up in Indianola, Illinois and later moved to Fremont, Indiana in 1977.
Doug married Sherry Thatcher on August 19, 1978 in Fremont, Indiana.
He worked for General products in Angola for 29 years. He also worked for his father-in-law, Lollie Thatcher, at Lollie’s Shell gas station in Angola.
Doug enjoyed NASCAR, and was a Kevin Harvick fan. He also enjoyed working on lawn mowers, going fishing and bowling when he was younger.
Survivors include his wife, Sherry Thatcher of Fremont, Indiana, brothers, Lewis (Christie) Kistler of Indianola, Illinois, and Willis E. (Gala) Kistler, Jr. of Fairmount, Illinois, mother-in-law, Sharon Thatcher of Fremont, Indiana, sisters-in-law, Marlene Corbin of Danville, Illinois and Lori Thatcher of Fremont, Indiana, brothers-in-law, Ray Evans of Indianola, Illinois and Michael Thatcher of Fremont, Indiana and many nieces and nephews.
He was also preceded in death by a brother, Larry Corbin, sisters, Willisa Evans, Barbara Thomas and Sally Hollingsworth, a favorite nephew, Randy Thomas, father-in-law, Lollie Thatcher, brother-in-law, Rick Thomas and sister-in-law, Catherine “Kate” Thatcher.
A Graveside Service will be announced at a later time for Fremont Cemetery, Fremont, Indiana.
