

Harold Bruce Dodge, age 98, of Angola, Indiana, and formerly of Reynolds, Indiana, passed away Tuesday October 4, 2016, at Cameron Woods Assisted Living in Angola, Indiana, with his family by his side.
He was born in Flint, Michigan on October 14, 1917, the son of Virgil B. and Clara (Schroeder) Dodge, and came to Reynolds in 1920 to live with his grandparents, Fred and Gusta (Buss) Schroeder. He was a 1935 graduate of Reynolds High School, and later a graduate of the School of Banking, at the University of Wisconsin, Madison, Wisconsin.
He was a career banker at the Bank of Reynolds where he served beginning as a Teller in 1935 and concluding as President and Chairman of the Board at the time of his retirement at the end of 1979.
He was active in many local and community organizations during that time.
He served in the U.S. Navy as an Aviation Ordnance 1C in the Pacific Theater during WW II. After his honorable discharge under the point system, he returned to the bank.
He was an active member of the St. James Lutheran Church of Reynolds of which he was a member following his transfer there at the age of 3, he also had attended the Peace Lutheran Church in Fremont, Indiana.
He married Sylvia Elizabeth Koebcke on October 10, 1939 in South Bend, Indiana, and she survives.
To this union were born three children, Cary B. (Cheryl) Dodge of Lebanon, Indiana, Harley J. (Sharon) Dodge of Angola, Indiana, and Sandra Sue (Max) Chamberlain of Melbourne, Florida, six grandchildren, Brian (Lisa) Dodge, Chanda (Shelby) Puckett, Amy (Glen) Kelly, Christa Dodge, Chad (Kristy) Dodge, and Mark (Yulia) Chamberlain, and six great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and a sister, Arlene Dolick.
Funeral Services will be held at 12:00 Noon, Tuesday, October 11, 2016 at the St, James Lutheran Church of Reynolds, with Rev. Charles Blakey officiating. There will be one hour of visitation prior to the services at the church from 11 am until 12:00 Noon.
Interment will follow the services at St. James Cemetery, Reynolds, Indiana, where Military Committal Honors will be conducted.
Memorials are requested in his memory to the St. James Lutheran Church, Reynolds, Indiana.
Local arrangements are being handled by Beams Funeral Home of Fremont, Indiana, and the Miller-Roscka Funeral Home of Monticello, Indiana.
