

Harris was born August 8, 1935, Ray, Indiana, to Harris and Ruth (Teeters) Smith, and they preceded in death.
He married Viola Maxine Coffing on November 25, 1958 in New Paris, Indiana, she preceded him in death on March 1, 2010.
Harris retired from Dana-Weatherhead in Angola, Indiana, and was a lifetime farmer. He formerly served the Steuben County Sherriff Reserves for many years. He was a United States Navy veteran. Harris had a fondness of horses, he enjoyed mushroom hunting, farming, being outdoors, helping amish families, and he loved all of his family and spending time with them.
Survivors are a daughter, Teresa Miller of Fremont, Indiana, a son, Harris Jay and Molly Smith of Whiteland, Indiana, five grandchildren Terry Smith and (Erika), Cindy Smith and (Kyle), Amanda Miller and (Josh), Zach Smith, and Dane Smith, five great-grandchild, Nevaeh, Alyssa, Kayleigh, Breckin, and Wyatt, his companion, Dianne Rubley of Montgomery, Michigan, a sister and brother-in-law, Helen and Richard Swander of Fremont, Indiana, and many nieces and nephews.
He was also preceded in death by a step-son, Terry Lee Wells on January 1, 1975, and a great-grandchild.
Visitation will be from 2-4 pm and 6-8 pm Tuesday, June 24, 2014 at Beams Funeral Home, Fremont, Indiana.
Funeral services will be held at 1 pm Wednesday, June 25, 2014 at Beams Funeral Home, with Rev. Jon Bruney officiating.
Burial will be at Teeters Cemetery, Fremont, Indiana.
