Melvin E. Curtis, Jr., age 72, of Orland, Indiana, passed away on Sunday, February 18, 2018 as a result of many complications to the flu virus.
Melvin or better known to most as “Melbo” was born on October 27, 1945 in Logansport, Indiana, the son of Melvin E. Curtis, Sr., and Eunice (Rousseau) Curtis.
Mel was retired from the Teamsters Union Local # 414. He was a big NASCAR fan, but his greatest joy in his retirement years was his focus on his family and especially his grandchildren. Melbo was the neighborhood and community handyman as well.
He is survived by wife, Cynthia Curtis, Orland, Indiana, sons, Mark Curtis of Union City, Indiana, and Craig (Maria) Curtis of Orland, Indiana, a sister, Sandra Townsand of Logansport, Indiana, grandchildren, Ashley (Curtis) Plessinger of Dunkirk, Indiana, Tyler Curtis, Chace Curtis, and Nathan Curtis, all of Orland, Indiana, and he was also blessed with 5 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Don E. Curtis, and a nephew, Michael Townsand.
Respecting his wishes he will be cremated with a private ceremony at a later time.
Memorials in his honor may be made to the Quad County Baseball League, in care of Beams Funeral Home, P.O. Box 5, Fremont, Indiana 46737.
