He was born on July 6, 1943 in Albion, Michigan.
Russell proudly served in the United States Army for 3 years.
He was retired from Fremont Manufacturing.
Russell married Nancy Dunn on October 31, 1964 in Uniondale, Michigan.
He was a member of the Fremont American Legion Cassel Post 257 and the Fremont Moose Lodge.
Russell enjoyed cars, watching soccer, NASCAR and going for truck rides with Nancy and their dog, Penny.
Survivors include his wife, Nancy Bird of Fremont, Indiana, a son, Chris (Julie) Bird of Fremont, Indiana, grandchildren, Kyle (Jennica) Bird of Fremont, Indiana and Mack (Sully) Otter of Angola, Indiana and several great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his father Warren Bird, mother, Ginevra (Bell) Price, and a son Todd Bird, brothers, Richard Bird and Leon Bird.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later time.
