Russell Heckathorn

He was born on July 31, 1943 in Pleasant Lake, Indiana to Chet and Chloe (Sands) Heckathorn, they preceded him in death.

He grew up in Pleasant Lake, Indiana.

Russ retired after many years doing auto body repair and auto painting. He also worked for Dana Weatherhead, and the Ford garage, in Angola, doing mechanic work.

He enjoyed working on small engines and lawn mowers, and helping others when they needed.

Surviving are his children, Deana (Kirk) Skinner, and Daniel Heckathorn, both of Bronson, Michigan, grandchildren, Naathan Skinner of Goshen, Indiana, Jamie (James) Kuhl of Sturgis, Michigan, and Olivia Skinner of Bronson, Michigan, a sister, Lou Burry of Fort Wayne, Indiana, and a brother, Paul Heckathorn of Pleasant Lake, Indiana, three great grandsons, Zaden, Luke, Emmett, and His Special Friend, Carol Martin.

He was also preceded in death by his former wife, Nancy (Wilkins) Heckathorn, and several siblings.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 4 pm Sunday, January 8, 2023 at the Bethel Gilead Community Church, 876 Block Road, Bronson, Michigan.

The family requests any memorial donations may be given to anyone in a time of need in his memory, as Russ was one to always help others.
