Violet M Straw

Violet was born on February 27, 1933 in Bath Township, Greene County, Ohio.

She married Jay J. “Bud” Straw on April 4, 1953 in Angola, Indiana.

Violet graduated from Coldwater High School in 1951. She was a nurses aide for the Coldwater State Home for 18 years, retiring in 1988.

She enjoyed spending time with her family and grandchildren, and spending time at her cottage in northern Michigan.

Survivors include, five daughters, Kathy (Bob) Miner of Montgomery, Michigan, Carolyn (Jeff) Hensley of Montgomery, Alabama, Sharon Frasier of Angola, Indiana, Velvet (Gerry) Lerch of Kent City, Michigan, and Shirley Sensat of Kinderhook Township, Michigan, thirteen grandchildren, Thirteen great-grandchildren, and a brother, George Pope of Coldwater, Michigan.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Jay “ Bud” Straw, four brothers, and a grandson Wesley.

Calling hours will be from 4-7 pm Tuesday, September 2, 2014 at Beams Funeral Home in Fremont, Indiana.

Funeral Services will be held at 11 am Wednesday, September 3, 2014 at Beams Funeral Home, with Onalee Kraus officiating.

Burial will be at Knauss Cemetery, Kinderhook Township, Branch County, Michigan.

Memorials are requested to Stokes Chapel United Methodist Church or Maple Lawn Medical Care Facility.
