Edith was born Aug. 31, 1924 in Akron to Lebanese immigrants Toofic and Latife Salem. She graduated from Akron West High and then later moved to Fremont after meeting and marrying the love of her life, William C. Boukissen, on June 7, 1952.
Affectionately known by many as “Mrs. B”, she helped her husband and later their children in the success of the family’s various restaurants, including the former Mark’s Restaurant as well as Whitey’s Diner and Billy’s Restaurant. In fact, she had an active role in her family’s businesses up until the last few weeks of her life. A woman of strong faith, she was a long time member of St. Joseph Catholic Church.
She is survived and will be missed greatly by two daughters, Pamela Haas and Joy (Peter) Chudzinski, and two sons, Mark Boukissen and Robert (Kathy) Boukissen; 11 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, three sisters and two brothers.
